At Storm Media English, our mission is to explain Taiwan and the broader region to global readers through accurate, independent and responsible journalism. We use artificial intelligence (AI) tools in limited and clearly defined ways to improve efficiency — but AI does not replace human editorial judgment.
Human-led, AI-assisted.
All editorial decisions — what we cover, how we frame it and what we publish — are made by our editors. We do not use AI to invent facts, fabricate interviews, create sources or determine opinions. We remain fully responsible for everything we publish.
Translating and adapting from Chinese
Much of our English-language reporting is based on original journalism first published in Chinese by Storm Media. To make this work accessible to international audiences, we may use AI tools to assist with draft translations, language polishing or headline suggestions.
However, AI-generated drafts are substantially reviewed and rewritten by our editors before publication. Our editorial team verifies names, numbers and key facts, restructures the narrative where necessary, and adds context to ensure clarity for global readers. The published English version reflects editorial judgment, not automated output.
Original English reporting
As we expand our English-language coverage, some stories are reported and written originally in English. In these cases, AI may assist with transcription or language editing. All factual claims are independently verified by our journalists and editors. AI is never used to generate reporting or replace on-the-ground journalism.
What we do not use AI for
We do not publish unedited AI-generated articles, create misleading visual content, rely on automated fact-checking without human verification, or use AI to profile individual readers.
We review our AI practices regularly and update this page when our approach evolves. Transparency helps protect trust — and trust is central to our journalism.
