Mob Swarms South Korean YouTuber, Kisses Her on Camera in Tanzania

A video showing a South Korean travel YouTuber being surrounded, groped, and kissed without consent by a group of men in Tanzania has crossed one million views — reigniting debate over the risks of solo female travel in parts of Africa.

An Eun-ji, who runs the YouTube channel "모르는지" (Moreuneunjee) and has nearly 440,000 subscribers, was riding on the back of a hired motorcycle in Tanzania in March when a group of men blocked the road and swarmed the vehicle. The men demanded money, pressed against her body, and kissed her on the cheek — all captured on camera in real time. An cowered and screamed, repeatedly telling the men not to touch her, but they showed no signs of stopping.

In the chaos, one man attempted to grab her phone from her pocket. The motorcycle eventually pulled away to escape the crowd, but at least one of the men gave chase on his own motorcycle. The video surpassed one million views on YouTube by August 31. Online reaction was a mix of sympathy and sharp criticism. Some urged An to avoid traveling alone to dangerous countries in the future, while others called the trip reckless: "She couldn't have not known the risks — this was too careless," one commenter wrote. A harsher minority compared her to thrill-seekers who perform dangerous stunts for views, questioning whether the content was worth the risk.
