Han Kuang 42 | Army Apaches Land at Coast Guard HQ in Dispersal Drill

AH-64E Apache attack helicopters from Taiwan's Army Aviation and Special Forces Command touched down at the Coast Guard Administration's (CGA) headquarters in Wenshan District, Taipei City on Aug. 10, 2026, conducting a dispersed deployment drill to verify the wartime transition mechanism and inter-agency coordination procedures as Han Kuang 42 entered its defense in depth and sustained operations phase.

CGA Director-General Chang Chung-lung (張忠龍) personally came to observe. The Apaches arrived at 10 a.m. and completed their mission by 11:30 a.m., with the takeoff and landing process going smoothly. The CGA described the exercise as a demonstration of the strict wartime transition mechanism and the close inter-agency cooperation capability between the military and the CGA.

The dispersed deployment at CGA headquarters was part of a broader, coordinated effort. All CGA regional divisions simultaneously executed five operational courses alongside the military: dispersed deployment, strongpoint defense, flank security missions, maritime security exercises, and support for the establishment of forward command posts. The simultaneous nationwide scope reflected the depth of civil-military integration that Taiwan has planned for a conflict scenario, deepening the operational coordination and wartime adaptive response capacity of CGA-military cooperation.

The CGA emphasized that while its primary peacetime role is guarding the maritime border and maintaining maritime law and order, it is legally incorporated into the overall defensive warfare system in wartime.
