Kuomintang Chairwoman Cheng Li-wun (鄭麗文) led a delegation to mainland China and held a luncheon meeting with approximately 300 Taiwanese businesspeople at the Shanghai Dongjiao State Guest Hotel on April 9, 2026.
In her remarks, Cheng acknowledged longstanding grievances among Taiwan-based investors operating on the mainland, including difficulties in expanding cross-strait flight routes and obtaining business entry permits.
Cheng told attendees that the Kuomintang (KMT) remains committed to promoting cross-strait exchanges across economics, culture, youth, and society, whether as the ruling or opposition party in Taiwan. She said the party believes that cross-strait peace is a prerequisite for Taiwan's prosperity, and called for replacing hostility with goodwill and conflict with dialogue.

Cheng said the party has been actively pushing for practical improvements, including expanding cross-strait flight routes, resolving issues related to social insurance contributions and late payment penalties, assisting Taiwanese employees in returning to Taiwan for events, and facilitating business entry permit applications.
