    1 — Taipei 101 & Xinyi District
    3.96 million visitors | Google rating: 4.4 ⭐

No surprise here. Taipei 101 remains the city's top draw, combining a world-famous skyscraper with one of Asia's best shopping districts. The observation deck on the 89th floor gives sweeping views of the entire Taipei Basin, and the outdoor terrace on the 101st floor — known as Skyline 460 — takes it even higher. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Yangmingshan and the Tamsui River estuary.

The surrounding Xinyi district is packed with department stores all connected by covered sky bridges, so you can shop all day without worrying about rain. The area is especially popular during Christmas and New Year, when the nighttime lights draw huge crowds.

2 — Zhongshan Linear Park & Chifeng Street
    2.67 million visitors

This tree-lined corridor in central Taipei connects a string of indie cafés, design studios, vintage shops, and restaurants. Chifeng Street in particular has become a go-to for Taipei's creative crowd. It's a quieter, more local alternative to the big shopping districts — great for a relaxed afternoon stroll.

    3 — Ximending
    2.2 million visitors | Google rating: 4.4 ⭐

Ximending is Taipei's answer to Harajuku or Seoul's Hongdae — a pedestrianized youth culture hub packed with fashion, street food, cinemas, anime shops, and live performances. Centered around Exit 6 of Ximen MRT station, it's easy to reach and even easier to spend the whole day in. The famous rainbow pavement is a popular photo stop, and the area looks great lit up at night.

Visitors often compare it to Osaka's Shinsaibashi — high praise for a Taipei neighborhood.

6 — Raohe Street Night Market
    1.12 million visitors | Google rating: 4.3 ⭐

Raohe is one of Taipei's most beloved night markets, and it punches above its ranking. The 600-meter strip runs from Songshan Railway Station and is packed with food stalls, including several with Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition.

The must-try? The Fuzhou Shizu Pepper Bun stall right at the entrance — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and almost always has a queue. Herbal pork rib soup and braised dishes are also crowd favorites.

What visitors love most: the food variety is high, the repetition is low, and the straight-line layout means you won't get lost even on a busy weekend night. Both Songshan MRT and the railway station are right next door.
