As the global smartphone market matures, MediaTek is signaling a strategic pivot to redefine itself from a mobile-centric chipmaker into a diversified computing powerhouse. In an interview on the podcast *A Bit Personal with Jodi Shelton*, MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai (蔡力行) detailed a roadmap that shifts the company's focus toward the next decade of growth driven by artificial intelligence.
Tsai acknowledged that relying solely on smartphones is no longer a sustainable strategy for long-term expansion. Referring to the segment's inevitable slowdown, he noted that the company must move beyond its "single leg" of mobile chips to remain competitive. To build a more stable foundation, MediaTek is now pushing into high-value computing sectors, including personal computers, automotive electronics, edge AI, and data centers.
A central pillar of this transition is a renewed partnership with NVIDIA and its founder, Jensen Huang (黃仁勳).A Bit Personal with Jodi Shelton interview, Tsai described the collaboration as a key step in elevating MediaTek's competitive positioning within the industry. The alliance allows engineering teams from both companies to collaborate closely during development, leveraging MediaTek's capabilities in CPU design to complement NVIDIA's dominance in the GPU market.
