The crisis has deepened as Iran moves to block the strategic Strait of Hormuz, threatening global energy lifelines and compounding energy anxieties in Taiwan.
To clarify the U.S. position locally, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT)took to Facebook on Wednesday to reiterate President Donald Trump's four primary objectives for the ongoing military action. Citing statements made by the president earlier this week, the AIT outlined the core U.S. goals: destroying Iran's missile capabilities, eliminating its navy, ensuring the nation — designated as the world's top state sponsor of terrorism — can never acquire nuclear weapons, and preventing the regime from continuing to arm, fund, and command its terrorist proxy forces abroad.
