Among the wishes, Cho urged Taiwan's legislature to swiftly review proposed legislation on the central government's budget for 2026, a proposed special defense budget worth over one trillion Taiwanese dollars, legislative reforms to pensions for public servants, and new personnel appointments to Taiwan's Central Election Commission.
Cho noted the executive is still committed to changes in benefits for military personnel, the police, and retirement laws for public employees. Cho urged parliament to refrain from proposing unconstitutional legislation, undermining national security, or disrupting fiscal discipline. He expressed hope that achieving these wishes would foster consensus and cooperation between the KMT and DPP.
Cho also thanked Taiwan's armed forces and coast guard for their vigilance during recent Chinese live fire military drills carried out around the island.
KMT Chairwoman Cheng Li-wenalso attended the flag-raising ceremony, engaging in minimal interaction with Cho.
