A stranger verbally provokedDemocratic Progressive Party Legislator Puma Shenduring an evening stroll with his family on December 7

Shen claimed the man repeatedlywaved a phone's flashlight at his family, while aggressively accusing Shen of deserving a recent bounty on his person, placed on him by Beijing.

"I would rather trust the Communist Party than you," the man purportedly remarked.

After reporting the incident to the police and providing footage as evidenceShen recounted the events at a press conference the following day alongside Democratic Progressive Party caucus leaders and reiterated that political attacks should never impact lawmakers' families.

"Everyone says to keep family members out of it. It's a basic principle," he stated.

"How many local collaborators do we have in Taiwan? How many political parties continue to echo the rumors of the Chinese Communist Party daily?"

He also referenced a recent court session related to a lawsuit filed against Fu Kun-chi, where the judge asked for evidence of the claim that "Shen Boyang took over 400 billion to subvert the country." The opposition could not provide evidence and merely suggested that "there should be a video."

Shen asserted that some Taiwanese were using baseless rumors about him, originally spread by Beijing, to make political attacks and threaten Taiwan's democracy. (Related: Midnight Explosion in New Taipei Leaves Five Hospitalized Latest

The police suspect the individual is Taiwanese. Shen planned to give a statement today and, regarding protection orders or security detail, mentioned that he already has such measures in place.
