Taiwan's first commercial offshore wind farm - Formosa 2 - announced the second anniversary of its commercial operation on November 25, 2025.

Over the past two years, Formosa 2 has helped Taiwan's energy transition by providing a stable supply of clean energy to Taiwan, generating over 2.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, enough to power 301,000 households for two years, while reducing carbon emissions by approximately 1.155 million tons.

The wind farm's average capacity utilization rate is 37.88%, reaching up to 63.3% during peak wind seasons. These figures surpass industry averages and demonstrate high efficiency and stable performance.

Formosa 2 also aims to harmonize offshore wind development with the environmental sustainability of local ecosystems over its 20-year operational period, as shown by its collaboration with two universities on wetland conservation and fishery resource surveys.

Concurrently, a cooperative fishery resource survey with National Taiwan Ocean University has been utilizing scientific data since 2017 to monitor ecological changes around the wind farm, providing reliable data for operational decisions and fostering communication with local communities.
